Keywords research is an essential procedure of SEO. During this period, The SEO professionals use the keyword tool like Google keyword planner, to find and research search terms and related words that people enter into search engines while looking for a similar subject.
Based on the definition above, keywords have two important meaning.
1. From search engine aspect, the keyword is a ranking factor for the search engine.
2. On the user side, keyword represents what is looking for by people.
Long tail keyword definition
Long tail keywords are those three and four keyword phrases which are very, very specific to whatever you are selling. You see, whenever a customer uses a highly specific search phrase, they tend to be looking for exactly what they are actually going to buy.
Why is keyword so important for the search engine?
Do you know how search engines use keywords to rank the billions of page and sites? There are three basic stages for a search engine: crawling – where content is discovered; indexing, where it is analyzed and stored in huge databases; Ranking and retrieval, where a user query fetches a list of relevant pages.
Crawling is where it all begins – the acquisition of data about a website.This involves scanning the site and getting a complete list of everything on there – the page title, images, keywords it contains, and any other pages it links to – at a bare minimum. The search engine uses the keywords to identify different pages and websites.
Indexing is the process of taking all of that data you have from the crawl and placing it in a big database. In this process, all the pages and sites are divided into different categories by keywords and stored in vast data-centers with thousands of petabytes worth of drives.
Ranking & Retrieval
The last step is what you see – you input the query into the search box, and the search engine attempts to display the most relevant content it finds that match visitors’ query. This is the most complicated step. Some work with keywords, some allow you to ask a question, and some include advanced features like keyword proximity or filtering by age of content.
Why is keyword so important for people?
Keywords are also important for people while in the search. In the search results, the keyword within the description of the page is highlight remind users to click. At the meantime, keywords with reasonable frequency display in content are beneficial for browsing.
In our working flow, this stage is trying to find the keywords related to your business and organize them into the logical group for search engine indexing and human understanding.
For example, your products are about desk lamp. We will find the keywords “desk lamp provider” / “desk lamp manufacturer”/ “desk lamp retailer”/ “desk lamp wholesaler” as the home page keyword. Then, according to your products categories, we will use “small desk lamp” / “led desk lamp”/ “modern desk lamp”/ “swing arm desk lamp” as the different categories. In the small desk lamp category, you will find “small desk lamp with red shade” still has little search volume.
The above just a simple sample. Actually, desk light is a synonym of the desk lamp. That means the workload will become two times of the “desk lamp”. As our target is to find the keywords with high search volume but low competition, so some filters need to be used to take out the unsuitable phases.
